The property

A rare sanctuary of luxury, space and absolute privacy.

Perched above the sands of Copacabana, this penthouse offers five spacious double suites, each with its own bathroom. The interiors blend contemporary sophistication with subtle maritime references, drawn from the era when ocean liners still anchored in the bay.

The social areas unfold toward the outdoors: a fully equipped kitchen opens onto a generous living room and an expansive bar, all giving onto the terrace. Imported European furnishings, central air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi and a sound system run throughout.

The terrace

The crown jewel

Completely secluded from the neighbouring buildings, the terrace offers total privacy and uninterrupted 180-degree views along the entire length of Copacabana beach. The ocean is not a backdrop here — it is part of the room.

A covered dining area under a bespoke canvas canopy lets you eat outside from sunrise to sunset, whatever the hour of the Rio sun. The private heated pool looks straight out to sea, and a hot tub is set into the decking alongside.

Inside

Wood, light and a white piano

Warm wood tones and careful craftsmanship set the tone from the entrance. The living room runs into the bar and out onto the terrace, so the whole floor reads as one long room facing the water.

A grand piano stands at the threshold of the terrace — a poetic touch rarely found in a beachfront residence, and the detail guests remember. Four suites open on the main level; the fifth is upstairs, reached by a spiral staircase.

The location

Between two beaches, at the quiet end

The views you came for

The terrace looks north along the whole sweep of Copacabana to Sugarloaf, and the hills close the frame on the other side. These are the postcards of Rio — except you are having breakfast in front of them, not queuing to photograph them.

Copacabana at the door, Ipanema on foot

The sand is across the avenue. Walk the other way and the beach runs out at Arpoador — the rock Cariocas climb for the sunset, about ten minutes from here — and Ipanema begins just beyond, a quarter of an hour on foot. Two worlds, no car.

The hotel end of the beach

The Emiliano is at number 3804, a hundred metres along the same pavement; the Fairmont at 4240. Their restaurants, bars and spas are a walk away, and so is everything that follows them here — this is the stretch of Copacabana that the good addresses chose.
